We don’t eat much chocolate in this house now since we have a sugar free diet now but will on the odd occasion indulge on a box of something special from our friends at Hotel Chocolat, and this year they’ve hit the mark again with what’s on offer. My Mum was always a huge Hotel Chocolat fan, way back when they were Choc Express taking the odd trip to the store in Watford bringing home some to hide in her sock draw away from the rest of us. Never saw her do that with Cadbury chocolate. But as always I will be buying her a Hotel Chocolat gift box to open Christmas Day. Though as there are so many to choose from I’m going to have a hard time deciding so probably order her the Classic Christmas Chocolate Sleekster as it has some delectable flavours in it – The Snowball and the Berry Crumble which need a special mention and which given half a chance to I would happily stuff myself silly with a kilo bag of each. Greedy? Nope, just in love. Perhaps that’s an idea for next year – get to choose your favourite chocolate and purchase a huge bag of them instead of the box (remember where you heard the idea first). That way I’d get the whole bag to myself since Andy didn’t like the Berry Crumble meaning I’d be a little Christmas piglet all on my own.
Of course The Classic Christmas Sleekster box also includes the award winning Treacle Tart which takes me right back to being a kid again and how they have captured all that in one little bite size morsel I will never be privy to. But somehow they’ve managed to encapsulate my 1970s childhood Christmas in 325g of chocolatey goodness without the mince pie and that I am more than grateful for since mince pies are the work of the evil mincemeat pixies. Ugh.
I don’t have to tell you how nice their chocolate is as it’s practically the only chocolate brand I feature on a regular basis here, what with the hot chocolate drink I invented with their chocolates last year, which incidentally is still an incredibly popular recipe that you might want to recreate yourself (however you might want to change the chocolates you use now to some from the Christmas Collection Sleekster Box instead – I highly recommend the Berry Crumble which I adore – sorry, did I say that already)?
Just buy them, you know you want to, you’ll make someone’s Christmas, you ain’t no miser, come on.
