It’s so cold out there right now as it’s been snowing where we are, so it’s time for all the coats to come out to wrap up your furry friend when you’re taking them out for a walk. I know some people don’t agree with putting coats on their dogs, and my Mum and Dad were much like that, until we got our Lolly (RIP) and she would shiver at the slightest temperature change, so a nice padded jacket came into play and she became a very happy little warm, toasty Bichon Frise. It’s probably because she was from Spain that the UK weather made her a little chilly but even the dogs that we have now, all have coats to wear when the sun goes in simply because we like to keep their fur trimmed regardless so they need that extra level of protection.
Just before Christmas the lovely Ashlea from Snug as a Pug sent our Cocker Spaniel Pea a beautifully wrapped Christmas present of a very cosy and eye catching Mountaineer II Waterproof Dog Coat from the Puppia Collection. It’s in a really stunning blue with orange trim and orange harness which is sewn into the coat (genius idea as the coat is a perfect fit meaning the harness is so there’s no faffing about). We went for an XL as his measurements were the same as on the size guide. In retrospect I think I should have perhaps gone for an XXL as it’s the coat is slightly smaller than the harness, not by a lot but by around half an inch but if his fur hasn’t been trimmed it’s slightly tighter than it should be. However since Christmas he seems to have put on a bit of weight, so right now the coat only zips up halfway so I would recommend if you have a young dog that is still to grow then buy the size up (even the page now says to buy the size above which is good advice).
So I can’t present you with a photo of Pea wearing it as we can’t actually get it on him anymore and we’ve tried fitting it on Barry, but he hates anyone going near him with anything apart from food, so getting him to model it again is out of the question.
The coat though is beautifully made with no stitch out of place. The vibrant blue takes your breath away, and twinning it with the orange harness and trim (even the fleece inside is matched) looks stunning. 7 colours to choose from and sizes ranging from small to XXL there’s quite a few to choose from to make your pooch look like a star.
But Snug as a Pug doesn’t only sell coats. If you want something for bath time to make them smell like a million dollars, then you can choose from the shampoo to the grooming spray.
If your dog fancies a pint with you on a sunny Sunday, then treat them to Woof and Brew (our favourite dog treats) Beer, and want them to snuggle by your feet, then there’s plenty to choose from with their range of dog beds.
Something for you to show your furry friend just how much you care.
