As usual we got a lovely selection of products in the Degustabox for this month. A couple of items I was thrilled that were included, like Tasty Little Numbers 200 calorie meals. After losing lots of weight last year, and sadly putting the majority back on again (which has totally confirmed that I am indeed an emotional eater) I’ve been looking at Tasty Little Numbers items for a while to see if they would add any diversity to my diet so I could get back in the swing of it again. But they’re more about portion control than low calories. Simple to work out and quite tasty for what they are. It’s nice that they produce a whole range as you wouldn’t get fed up and bored as you would doing it on your own. My downfall apart from losing my beautiful dog Biscuit which lead me to a complete breakdown, but was my craving for sweets was so overwhelming that when I fell off the wagon it’s all I thought about.
Anyway, a couple of things that would probably have taken the craving off were also in this box: Say Yes To No bread chips. These are round, thin crunchy pieces of bread which are perfect for canapes, or just for dipping (ideal to use with new whipped Philadelphia too). Available in 3 flavours, we had the sour cream and chive which although was tasty, a little more flavour wouldn’t have gone a miss.
Peas. I adore Peas. But I adore crunchy peas more than mushy ones so Taking The Pea, Smoked Ham Crunchy Peas hit the spot. Also available in Wasabi, these were my favourite part of the box (those and the Strawberry Lambrini) as I’m a big snacker so popping these in my handbag for a sneaky nibble are perfect.
I did find one of the items a little strange. The Collagen drink sounds delicious but freaked me out a little when I sipped it. It contains little capsules that burst when you press them with your tongue. They actually remind me of a Japanese sweet that ultimately looks like some kind of chew, however when you bite down on it and start to devour it, small jelly bubbles pop out of it which gives you such a weird sensation you have to do it all over again just to understand what’s happened. Weird but incredibly delightful.
Fruit Snax has also surprised me. I half expected them to be similar to Nakd Raisins but they’re more like freeze dried fruit with freeze dried marshmallows which taste amazing. Definitely one for the snack cupboard.
Couple of drinks in this months box was the sensational Lambrini Strawberry which is so incredibly moorish, I drank the whole bottle over lunch with very little tummy pain (I suffer generally when I drink anything with Sulphites) but I couldn’t get enough of it. It was just like a sweet strawberry cordial mixed with fizzy water. Heavenly.
We were also treated to 2 Weetabix Breakfast Drinks. I was lucky enough to trial these before they came out and they’ve just got better and better. The chocolate is like a very naughty milkshake, and the vanilla strikes me with porridge undertones. Both fabulous but for breakfast, I’m not so sure. I think I’d rather have something higher protein to keep hunger at bay.
Newton’s Appl Fizzics, spelt without the e as there are no e additives in the drink was quite a nice light end of meal drink, but pretty simple to make yourself with apple juice and fizzy water, I’m not sure I’d buy it. I think apple juice is nicer on it’s own.
Finally our new “DB Discoveries” Geetas Chutney. We’re no stranger to Geetas sauces as on several occasions Approved Food have carried the line so we’ve dipped into the brand. The chutney is delicious, as are the majority of the brand so I wasn’t surprised. Perfect with cheese, crackers, meat, or anything you need to add a little tang too.
Overall another fab box from the amazing Degustabox. Don’t you think it’s about time you bought a subscription?
