When Oh (voiced by Jim Parsons – Sheldon in The Big Bang Theory) a lovable misfit from another planet, lands on Earth and finds himself on the run from his own people, he forms an unlikely friendship with an adventurous girl named Tip who is on a quest of her own. Through a series of comic adventures with Tip, Oh comes to understand that being different and making mistakes is all part of being human. And while he changes her planet and she changes his world, they discover the true meaning of the word HOME.
Thanks to UKMumsTV I got the opportunity with my two boys to see “Home” from Dreamworks, based on Adam Rex’s 2007 children’s book “The True Meaning of Smekday”, last week.
If you haven’t seen it yet, please try and take your youngsters during the Easter Holidays to watch it as it’s one of the best animation films that I have seen to date. Oh the main “Boov” is so adorable and my youngest Nathan loved the Calico Cat called Pig even though he thought it was a guinea pig first.
He also caught the catchphrase bug by reciting “my hands are in the air like I just do not care” constantly since he saw it, so he must have loved it in his own little way, bless him. Terry is 12 and even he loved it.
This film essentially teaches kids that we are different, but we all tend to mistakes which is totally normal in real life. It also demonstrates the bond that friends have between them.
It’s slightly tearful seeing how close Tip (voiced by Rihanna) was with her mum Lucy (voiced by Jennifer Lopez) but not to spoil it, towards the end can hit you so it’s worth taking a packet of tissues with you if you’re a big softy like me.
So get them tickets and go watch this film I highly recommend you do as do my boys!
